Description

A company of the United States Army's 25th Division have arrived in Townsville for five and a half weeks training with the Australian Army. The visit is part of the Pacific Bond exchange training scheme. The soldiers arrived at Garbutt RAAF base, Townsville, Qld, by United States Air Force Starlifter transport. On hand to meet the US company were the Officer Commanding Garbutt RAAF base, Group Captain F Grigg and the Commander of the District Support Group North Queensland, Colonel B Boys. The visitors were quickly briefed on their programme before formal salutes were exchanged by the Americans and guard of honour from the 2nd/4th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment.
