Informal group portrait of five members of the AIF. Left to right: Lieutenant (Lt) Dudley Frederick Salmon, from Emu Park, Queensland; Captain (Capt) John William Millar, from Mount Lawley, Western Australia; unidentified; Lt George Noakes Macaluley Goode, from Sydney, NSW, and Lt William Stuart Dixon, from Auchenflower, Queensland. All four identified officers and probably the unidentified officer were members of the 47th Battalion. Capt Millar and Lt Dixon were both killed in action on 7 June 1917, the day after the photograph was taken and Lt Salmon was killed on 9 June 1917, all at Messines, Belgium. Lt Goode died of wounds at St Omer, France, on 12 June 1917, having been wounded at Messines.
