Fairbairn, ACT. 1945-07-06. The casket containing the body of the Prime Minister, the Right Honourable John Curtin, borne on a gun carriage and escorted by an RAAF guard, is seen here moving past the hangars at RAAF Base Fairbairn toward the tarmac. The casket was then loaded into an RAAF Douglas C47 Dakota aircraft (A65-71, VH-CIN) to be flown to Perth where the funeral took place on 1945-07-08. (Donor J. Crouch)
