Moore, Hugh DFC (Wing Commander b.1916)
Description
Collection relating to Wing Commander H Moore, DFC during his service with the RAAF in the Malayan Emergency. Consists of letters written to his wife while on active service in command of No 1 Bomber Squadron RAAF based at Tengah. Includes comments on climate, people and customs, sport and social life, missions including night flying and Operation Termite, new bombing techniques, combined operations with ground forces, and relations with RAF. Also contains a letter written by Group Captain D W Colquhoun regarding the granting of rank and a few photos of the RAF Base at Tengah and of Lincoln bombers.
