Imjin River area, Korea, 1951-08-08. The Right Honourable Richard G. Casey (centre), Australia's Minister for External Affairs, delivers an impromptu speech to the assembled members of 'A' Company, 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR). The soldiers wanted to question Casey about the progress of armistice negotiations and about their conditions of service, but the Minister gravely disappointed them by lecturing them about RAAF operations against insurgents in Malaya. At far left, the Company Commander, 3/395 Captain Jeffrey James (Jim) Shelton, and the Battalion Intelligence Officer, 3/35011 Lieutenant Francis Peter (Pete) Scott, exchange meaningful glances. With hands on hips to left of Shelton is Lieutenant Fred Gardner, Platoon Commander, 1 Platoon.
