Description
Imjin River area, Korea, 1951-08-08. The two cars at left have just brought Australia's Minister for External Affairs, The Right Honourable Richard G. Casey, and his advisers to the camp occupied by the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR). Casey is the balding figure in civilian clothes in the centre of the group standing next to the jeep. At right, members of 'A' Company assemble with their weapons over their shoulders to hear Casey deliver an impromptu speech. The soldiers had wanted to question the Minister about the progress of armistice negotiations and about their conditions of service, but he gravely disappointed them by lecturing them about RAAF operations against insurgents in Malaya.
