Description
Imjin River area, Korea, 1951-08-08. Carrying Owen submachine guns and .303 rifles on their shoulders, members of 'A' Company, 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR) (right), gather to listen to an impromptu speech that Australia's Minister for External Affairs, The Right Honourable Richard G. Casey (not in view), is about to deliver to them. The two cars in the background have just brought the Minister and his advisers to the 3RAR camp. The soldiers wanted to question the Minister about the progress of armistice negotiations and about their conditions of service, but he gravely disappointed them by lecturing them about RAAF operations against insurgents in Malaya.
