Malaya. c. 1960. Malayan police guides in the bow of a boat carrying members of B Company, 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (1RAR), to a Grik native village on the Sunghi Perar river. 1RAR conducted long range patrols in Northern Malaya near the border of Thailand which usually commenced from jungle villages only accessible after long river journeys.
