Associated with the service of Lieutenant Margaret Anderson, 2/10 Australian General Hospital and Hospital Ship Wanganella. Margaret Irene Anderson was born in Melbourne, Victoria on 11 December 1915. She enlisted into the Second AIF on 19 September 1941. Anderson evacuated Singapore on the motor vessel Empire Star on 12 February 1942. She was awarded the George Medal for her actions in assisting and protecting wounded soldiers during Japanese attacks on the ship. Anderson was discharged on 4 June 1946. Anderson was entitled to this campaign medal for her work during Hospital Ship Wanganella's trip to Taranto, Italy to pick up New Zealand and Australian prisoners of war from December 1943 to January 1944.
