Description
Palestine, 1940-12-25. Outdoors group portrait of the officers and senior NCOs of Headquarters Company, 6th Australian Division Cavalry Regiment, at the unit's camp at Christmas. The men in the front row are (left to right): Lieutenant (Lt) Brain; Lt Black; Captain (Capt) Robinson; Capt Holden; Capt Janes, who is wearing a Red Cross armband; Lt Taylor; NX234 Padre Francis Oag Hulme-Moir, the Church of England chaplain to the regiment. All of the other men are warrant officers and sergeants. To the rear of the group are the unit's tent lines. The photograph was used in the unit's Christmas card which was inscribed: 'Middle East, Christmas 1940'.
