Description

In 1992 Ellen Jose (b.1951) held an exhibition in Melbourne titled "Black Diggers-Ghost Fighters" to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the beginning of the Kokoda campaign in New Guinea, as well as remembering the war experiences of her father who fought in New Guinea and the Pacific. Based on this she created a number of works such as "Aaaaa-tention!" (ART29762),"Long winding trail" (ART29763) and "Reach out and touch - distance and time" which intermingle personal symbols, such as the river or road appearing in both works, symbolic of time and memory, with family snapshots.
