History / Summary
1680 Lance Corporal William George Kite, enlisted on 20 Janurary 1916 in the 2nd Reinforcements of 56 Battalion, AIF. He returned to Australia on 23 June 1919. Awarded Distinguished Conduct Medal on 1 September 1918 at Peronne. Also awarded the Military Medal on 24 April 1918 for operations near Villers Bretonneux. Mention in despatches oakleaf present on Victory Medal, but unable to confirm this award in AWM Series 28. Kite later served in the Second World War.
