Wilburt (or Wilbert) 'Darky' Hudson MM holding a Lewis gun at the Australian War Memorial. N108358 (later NX149078) Gunner Hudson was awarded the Military Medal for his part in shooting down a Japanese Zero which was strafing the area over Darwin on 19 February 1942. This was one of the first Military Medals awarded on Australian soil.
