Studio portrait of 554 Corporal (Cpl) George Campbell Easton, 2nd Machine Gun Battalion. A commercial traveller from Camperdown, NSW prior to enlistment, Cpl Easton embarked with the rank of Private (Pte) with the 9th Reinforcements, 5th Machine Gun Company from Melbourne on HMAT Orsova on 6 December 1916. Later transferring to 2nd Machine Gun Battalion, he was promoted to Corporal and, on 4 November 1918, he died of illness and was buried in the Northampton (Towcester Road) Cemetery, England.
