Description
60192 Leading Aircraftman Alexander G Farthing (left), a flight rigger with 75 Squadron RAAF, is haunched down on the cockpit sill of one its aircraft while its pilot, 402342 Flight Lieutenant (Flt Lt) Bruce E "Buster" Brown, DFC and Bar (right), leans on an open canopy hood. This P-40E Kittyhawk aircraft, serial number A29-133, was named 'Polly' and was one of many flown by Flt Lt Brown during his service with the squadron at the battle of Milne Bay. The aircraft was later recovered and, after restoration, acquired by the Australian War Memorial where it is now held in the aircraft collection.
