Description
The grave of 2nd Lieutenant (2nd Lt) Herbert William Brough, 105th Howitzer Battery, of Sydney, NSW. An architect prior to enlistment, 2nd Lt Brough embarked as a Private (Pte) with the 7th Reinforcements of the 6th Light Horse Regiment from Sydney on HMAT Chilka on 7th June 1915. After transferring to Artillery he was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant and on 1st May 1917 died of wounds received in action. He was buried in the Bapaume Communal Cemetery, France. Note that the inscription on his grave marker states that he was killed in action.
