Description
Portrait of Lieutenant (Lt) John William Pidcock MC, 42nd Battery, 11th Field Artillery Brigade, of Newcastle, NSW. Lt Pidcock enlisted on 1 September 1914 in C Section of the 1st Field Ambulance as a private, and was later commissioned to the Field Artillery Brigade in 1916. He was awarded the Military Cross on 5 April 1918 for "conspicious gallantry during the attack on the 5th April 1918 against our positions opposite Dernacourt and Albert" , and later died of wounds he received in that action.
