An improvised stage at an airfield where a speech is made to the public in the foreground during the Australian tour of Avro Lancaster aircraft G for George. This aircraft, formerly flown by 460 Squadron RAAF, undertook the Third Victory Loan Tour around Australia following its arrival from England. The tour, which ran from 13 March to 27 April 1945, was instigated to assist the Government raise 100 Million pounds for the war effort, by the purchase of war bonds. A De Havilland DH.84 Dragon Mk 2 aircraft, serial VH-UXG, is coming in to land during the speech. This aircraft was one of 58 built. From 27 April 1936 until November 1948 the aircraft was registered as VH-UXG by Aircrafts Pty Ltd, Brisbane, Qld, Australia. On 30 November 1948, the aircraft was acquired by Queensland Flying Services, Brisbane. It appears not to have been used operationally by the armed services.
