Description

An RAAF Iroquois UH1H Helicopter (A2-809) flown by O134423 Lieutenant (Lt) Richard Nest, RAN Pilot, Flight Lieutenant (Flt Lt) Peter McAulay, RAAF Co-Pilot, and A225883 Sergeant (Air) (Sgt (Air)) Peter J O'Brien, RAAF Loadmaster, flying low through Tank Valley en route to Moses Valley. Tank Valley at one stage contained over one million landmines. The ANZAC Contingent of the Multinational Force and Observers (ACMFO) was made up of Australian and New Zealand personnel, which formed the Rotary Wing Aviation Unit (RWAU). Flying RAAF helicopters, the RWAU provided the airlift capability to the MFO monitoring the Egyptian and Israeli cease-fire in the Sinai from 25 April 1982 to the 17 March 1986.
