Khaki wool service dress jacket : Corporal V M Bracher, AAMWS
Australian Army Medical Women's Service khaki wool service dress jacket manufactured in 1942. Colour patches of 115 Australian General Hospital and miniature colour patches of 2/1 Australian General Hospital are sewn to the top of both sleeves. There is a Red Cross embroidered badge above a corporal's chevron on upper right sleeve and a single blue chevron for one year overseas service on lower right sleeve. Ribbon bar for 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, and Defence Medal above left breast pocket. Oxidised brass 'AUSTRALIA' shoulder titles, collar badges, and buttons.
Associated with VX91679 Corporal Valerie M Bracher who enlisted in the Australian Army Medical Women's Service (AAMWS). During World War Two she served with 115 Australian General Hospital (AGH) at Heidelberg, Victoria, and 2/1 AGH in New Guinea and Darwin. At the end of the war she was attached to 107 AGH, also in Darwin. This was the only jacket she was issued with during her four years service.
