Portrait of VFX91679 Corporal (Cpl) Valerie Mildred Bracher, Australian Army Medical Women's Service (AAMWS) outside 115 (Heidelberg) Military Hospital, who enlisted at Melbourne on 20 March 1943. Cpl Bracher later served with the 2/1 Australian General Hospital (2/1 AGH) in New Guinea and Darwin. After almost four years service, including one year overseas, Cpl Bracher was discharged on 7 January 1947. This was the only jacket provided to Cpl Bracher and it was carefully looked after during her four years of service. It is now held in the collection of the Australian War Memorial.
