Description

Bronze Next of Kin plaque showing Britannia and the British lion, together with the words 'HE DIED FOR FREEDOM AND HONOUR'. 'LOUIS STANLEY KENDALL' is embossed within a raised rectangle. The plaque is in its original waxed cardboard packaging.

History / Summary

Sent to the family of 3830 Private Louis Stanley Kendall, 30 Battalion AIF after he was killed in action at Anzac Ridge, Belgium on 23 October 1917, aged thirty-nine. He is buried at the Hooge Crater Cemetery, Zillebeke. Born on 6 October 1878 at Milton, NSW, Kendall was a dairy farmer when he enlisted, on 8 March 1916, and served with the 9th Reinforcements of 30 Battalion. He was survived by his widow, Ruby, and three young children.
