Description
An queue of 21st Battalion soldiers waiting their turn to vote in the Australian Commonwealth Government election. At the head of the queue an unidentified private has his name recorded prior to being issued with a ballot paper. The 21st Battalion was in front line support trenches at the time at Vaulx-Vraucourt, in the Bullecourt sector. The Commonwealth Electoral (War-Time) Bill of 1917 was the last piece of legislation passed by the sixth Parliament of the Commonwealth, enabling a modified ballot paper to be provided for servicemen and other 'absent' voters.
