Description
A bridge of planks placed across the River Ancre for use by the 6th Infantry Brigade in their attack on the village on 19 May 1918. The bridge was destroyed by the enemy by shellfire. It was always raked by enemy machine gun fire. Before the attack posts were held by the 24th Battalion on the left bank and the bridge was used by 24th Battalion men and by the 'moppers up' of the 28th Battalion.
