Ward, Claude
Description
Collection relating to 2184 Private (Pte) Claude Ward, who served with C Coy, 30th Battalion AIF, during the First World War. Comprises two original handwritten letters from Pte Ward to his mother, one telegram, letter from the Australian Red Cross, typed transcripts of the letters and telegram, original commemorative scroll, and copy of photograph of Pte Ward in uniform. The letters to his mother are dated 29 March 1916 and 14 July 1916, and were written in Egypt and France respectively. Pte Ward was killed in action in France on 20 July 1916.
