Description

A double bridge erected across the Somme Canal, at Brie, by Australian Engineers. It was constructed to take an axle load of 17 tons, all traffic except tanks, and though built on the site of a destroyed bridge of an entire span of sixty feet, had only a span of forty seven feet. Lieutenant F. F. Christian MC, who represented the Chief Engineer of the Australian Corps, in the construction of this bridge, is seen coversing with two American Officers on the left of the structure.
