Proyart, France. 28 February 1919. View of the grave of an Australian soldier killed in the fighting at Proyart on 9 August 1918, during the advance in this vicinity. Two brothers were in the trench fighting together. One was killed and was buried in the trench where he fell by his brother, who also erected the cross. The cross reads: Killed in action 12 August 1918, 2769 Private G. E. (George Ernest) Barrett, 42nd Battalion, erected by his brother.
