Suai Cathedral, Suai, East Timor
Description
View of Suai Cathedral, Suai, East Timor. `This is the church in Suai...It was being built with all the love and hope of a very religious people. When the soldiers marched in, about 100 people fled to the church for sanctuary. But they were not spared. They were all killed. So the church has become a symbol of death and no-one wants to go near it any more.' Wendy Sharpe, `The Australian Women's Weekly', March 2000, p.58. Page from large sketchbook no. 3.
