LCM8 patrol, Peace Monitoring Group, Bougainville 20 April 2000
Bougainville, 20 April 2000. Patrol 32 conduct a lifestyle and peace process awareness patrol by LCM8 to the villages of Mabiri, Ukubupaia and Tarara in the Eivo and Tarao districts of Bougainville. Personnel are Warrant Offcier Arnold Vira (Nivan), Sergeant Dean Kahu (NZ), S/Sergeant Kaiava Waqa (Fiji), Lance Corporal Poppy Wenham (Australian Army), Private Kent Strout (Australian Army) and Mr Peter Truswell (Australian Civilian Monitor). Arawa Health Clinic Staff, Sister Maggie and Nurse Betty. LCM8 crew 'Northern Warrior' A1061 crew are Corporal Floyd, Private Waldron, Craftsman Robertson and Private Nathan Boyd. Shows Private Waldron and Peace Monitoring Group flag on board LCM8. LCM8 making a beach landing near Ukupaia. Clearing a road block on the drive from the Beach Landing Site to Ukubupaia village. LCM8 docking near Ukubupaia and Toyota Landcruiser going aboard. PMG Flag with east coast of Bougainville Island in background.
