Looking from Ida Post towards Paper House, in no man's land, on the bank of the River Lys, in the Ploegsteert Sector. At the time of taking the photograph, the River Lys was in flood, and the low lying area, through which it flowed, became a marsh. Paper House, during this period, was inspected nightly by patrols of the 18th Battalion.
