Description
A German collecting station on the morning of the 20th July after the battle of Fromelles (Fleurbaix) with wounded Australian prisoners of war. The only identified soldier is 2134 Private Andreas Voitkun 32nd Battalion. Voitkun is sitting on the square box on the left hand side of the photograph with the top of his left arm bandaged. He was captured on 20 July 1916 and interned at Gefangenenlager Langensalza Germany. Voitkun survived captivity and returned to Australia in 1919.
