Description
Two unidentified Australian soldiers, accompanied by a horse, gathering coal left by German forces on the Bapaume road near the Butte de Warlencourt (background centre). This area was in no man's land during the 1916-1917 winter. The coal eggs (compressed coal dust) were also strewn around Le Sars Railway Station.
