Description
One of the two 'Cantilever' bridges erected by Lieutenant Davies MC of the 6th Field Company of Australian Engineers to enable a party of the 24th Battalion to cross in the attack on Ville-sur-Ancre, in the early morning of 19 May 1918. The bridging party attempted to erect another bridge further along, but owing to the casualties caused by the opposition of an enemy post in the proximity - afterwards killed to a man - the attempt was given up.
