Gallipoli Peninsula, Turkey. July 1915. Anzac Cove as it was, before the battle which was fought in August enabled full use to be made of North Beach. This beach was commanded by enemy snipers who operated from the hills on the left of the picture and necessitated the concentration of landing operations on Anzac Cove.
