Studio portrait of 1857 Sergeant (Sgt) Douglas Bernard Matthew Adams. A civil servant from Largs Bay, SA prior to enlistment, Sgt Adams embarked with the 4th Reinforcements, 10th Battalion from Adelaide on HMAT Port Lincoln on 1 April 1915. While serving at Gallipoli he was wounded in action and evacuated to the 1st Australian Casualty Clearing Station where, on 7 July 1915, aged 18, he succumbed to his wounds and was buried in the Beach Cemetery, Gallipoli, Turkey.
