Studio portrait of 1250 Private (Pte) Thomas Patrick Collins, 16th Battalion from Yongala, South Australia. A 24 year old locomotive shunter prior to enlisting on 12 September 1914, he embarked for overseas with H Company from Melbourne on 22 December 1914 aboard HMAT Ceramic. After landing at Gallipoli, he was wounded in action on 1 May and evacuated to Egypt where he died of his wounds on 29 May 1915. Pte Collins is buried in the Alexandria (Chatby) Military and War Memorial Cemetery, Alexandria, Egypt.
