Studio portrait of 2472 Corporal (Cpl) Ellis Eric Cork, 31st Battalion, of Arncliffe, NSW. Formerly a clerk in the Civil Service, Cpl Cork enlisted on 31 December 1915, and, as a member of the 4th Reinforcements embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Anchises (A68) on 14 March 1916. He served on the Western Front where he was killed in action at Polygon Wood, Belgium, on 26 September 1917, aged 20 years.
