Way, Marshall Western Moore (b.1896 - d.1916)
Description
Collection relating to the First World War service of 2604 Lance Corporal Marshall Way, 16 Battalion. The collection consists of fifteen handwritten letters from L/Cpl Way to his mother between September 1915 and August 1916. The letters describe conditions, Wassah - the 'red light' district of Cairo, censorship, and the evacuation of Gallipoli. Lance Corporal Way was killed in action at Mouquet Farm on 31 August 1916.
