Description
Collection relating to Lt Col Herbert G Carter, DSO, 1 Battalion, WW1. Collections consists of diaries for 1914, 1915, 1916, 1917, 1918 and 1919. The diaries cover his embarkation, service in Egypt, Gallipoli and France. Collection also contains two notebooks, one covering administrative matters 1914-1915 as Officer Commanding E Company, 1 Battalion; the other (which appears to be written in a different hand) refers to operational and training matters, 1916.
