Collection relating to the Melbourne Japanese Society, Melbourne, 1940.
Wallet 1 of 2 - consists of four sample membership certificates issued by the Committee of the Melbourne Japanese Society commemorating the 2600th year since the accession of the Emperor Jimmu and presenting various Japanese citizens with a membership badge designating them as ordinary members. Dated 1 October 1940, these were most likely confiscated from the society on the outbreak of the Pacific War in 1941.
Wallet 2 of 2 (custom box) - contains four empty waxed-card cylinderical containers for housing documents. Each cylinder has a label attached marked with Japanese characters.
