Pope, Charles VC (Lieutenant, b.1883 - d.1917)
Description
Collection relating to the First World War service of Lieutenant Charles Pope VC, 11 Battalion, France. Collection consists of an original 2 page typed letter written by General Birdwood to Mrs Pope following the death of her husband at Louverval on 15 April 1917; and an extract from the London Gazette dated 8 June 1917 announcing the award of the Victoria Cross posthumously to Lt Charles Pope.
