Description
Collection relating to the Second World War service of NX26551 Corporal Maxwell W Hopson, 2/18th Battallion, AIF. Collection includes a diary maintained during Corporal Hopson's army service which details his enlistment in 1940, training in Australia and Malaya, the defence of Singapore, his internment in Changi POW Camp, and his eventual transport to Japan and work in the chemical factories near Tokyo up until early 1943. Collection also includes a framed religious image, two Christmas cards recieved by Corporal Hopson while a POW, a pocket book of addresses and names, and a membership card.
