Patterson, Colin Campbell (Corporal, b.1895 - d.1917)
Collection relating to the First World War service of 3802 Corporal Colin Campbell Paterson, 10th Australian Field Artillery Brigade. Consists of assorted black and white photographs including some of Corporal Paterson and his brother Sapper Stanley Paterson; a copy of the New Testament; a commemorative scroll and royal letter of gratitude; original correspondence from Corporal Patterson to his mother from Gallipoli and France; letters of sympathy forwarded to Mrs Patterson following the death of Corporal Patterson at Bullecourt; newspaper cuttings; photographs and official papers relating to Corporal Patterson's grave; a publication entitled 'Letters of Barnaba'; and a publication entitled '4th Australian Divisional Artillery'. Corporal Paterson was killed in action in France, 16th April 1917. The letters from Corporal Paterson home discuss topics such as enlistment, casualties, mail, weather and camp conditions. The various letters of sympathy provide details of Corporal Paterson's death and burial.
