Description

Collection relating to the First World War service of 18288 Corporal Harry Aubrey Piper, 12th Field Company Engineers, AIF and Lieutenant H Piper. Collection consists of an original handwritten letter written by Corporal Piper home to his family; a handwritten copy of the original letter; various postcards with images of South Africa, France and Jersey; and a memorial card relating to the death of Lieutenant Piper on 9 January 1916. The letter covers information about Corporal Piper's will and pay, and also that there had been a call for the servicemen he was training with to volunteer for the Infantry instead of the Engineers, which had not been met positively with them.
