Description

Collection relating to the Cadet William Davison Walster, Australian Commonwealth Contingent 1911. Collection consists of a diary, postcards and papers relating to Cadet Walster's visit to the United Kingdom (UK) for the coronation of His Majesty King George V in 1911. The diary covers the period from April 1911 through to October 1911, and details Cadet Walster's embarkation from Australia, his journey to England, details of the War of South Africa (Boer War), the Coronation celebrations, and his return voyage to Australia. The collection also consists of official documents associated with his later activity in the Senior Cadet Training Scheme prior to the outbreak of the First World War, Battalion Orders for the 44th Battalion dated 1913 and 1915, and souvenir items from a Coronation Contingent Reunion in 1935.
