Description

Five 'Roll of Honour' albums, containing photographs and souvenirs connected with Sister E J Imlay's service with the Australian Army Nursing Service (AANS) during the First World War. Includes her time in Heliopolis, France, England, as well as on board transport ships. Most of the photographs are of friends, relatives or former patients of Sister Imlay, and some have accompanying brief service details. Folio 6 contains loose material which was not housed in an album. 24 of the images have have had digital images made and can be found in the Memorial's Photograph Collection number P04909. Added to Folio 6 in September 2012, was an original postcard sent from Cairo by Pte E T Edwards (believed to be 2816 Eldred Thomas Edwards) to Mr and Mrs Imlay, believed to be the parents of Sister Ellen Jeanne Imlay. The front view of the postcard is a picture captioned 'Cairo - Pyramids and village on the Nile'; the back of the postcard is a small message from Edwards wishing the Imlays a prosperous New Year 1916, and recalling that he had met Sister Imlay when he was a patient in the Luna Park hospital.
