Collection relating to the First World War service of Major Philip Arthur Chambers, 12th Light Horse Regiment, Egypt and Palestine, 1917-1919.

Wallet 1 of 1 - consists of two diaries written by Chambers while with the 12th Light Horse Regiment. One diary covers both 1917 and 1918; the other 1919. They contain brief diary entries covering the range of activities of a Light Horse officer and include comments on discipline arrangements and participation in courts martial.

History / Summary

Biographical note: 12 Light Horse Regiment, Pastoralist of Bourke, NSW. Born Wellington, NSW 12 September 1876. Appointed Captain 12 Light Horse 4 May 1915, promoted Major, 1 June 1915. Attached to 1 Light Horse Regiment at ANZAC from 29 August 1915, temporary Lieutenant Colonel 16 March 1919, appointment terminated 20 October 1919.
