Chambers, Philip Arthur (Major, b.1876 - d.?)
Collection relating to the First World War service of Major Philip Arthur Chambers, 12 Light Horse Regiment, Egypt and Palestine, 1917-1919. Collection consists of two diaries written by Chambers while with the 12 Light Horse Regiment. They contain brief diary entries covering the range of activities of a Light Horse officer and include comments on discipline arrangements and participation in courts martial. Diary entries for 1917 and 1918 are written in the same diary.
Biographical note: 12 Light Horse Regiment, Pastoralist of Bourke, NSW. Born Wellington, NSW 12 September 1876. Appointed Captain 12 Light Horse 4 May 1915, promoted Major, 1 June 1915. Attached to 1 Light Horse Regiment at ANZAC from 29 August 1915, temporary Lieutenant Colonel 16 March 1919, appointment terminated 20 October 1919.
