Biographical note: Private, 24th Bn, AIF. Law clerk of Sandy Bay, Tas.; born Sandy Bay; educated at private school; served with the Senior Cadets; joined the AIF on 4 October 1915; killed in action at Bullecourt, 3 May 1917, aged 19. Enlisted under the alias 'Allan Lane'. Brother of 773 Sergeant Douglas Eckford, 1 Battalion.
