Abbott, Francis Arthur (Sergeant, b.1893 - d.1918)
Description
Collection relating to the First World War service of 3170 Sergeant Francis Arthur Abbott, serving with 33 Battalion in France, 1917-1918. Collection consists of four letters from Abbott to family members commenting on battle conditions; military rations; the need for commitment by all to England; the Conscription issue, and local Penrith concerns. Also included are three letters of condolence to Abbott family members following Abbott's death in 1918.

Biographical note: 3170 Sergeant Francis Arthur Abbott, 33 Battalion, AIF. Killed in action, Peronne, 31 August 1918. Age 25. Son of Joseph and Mary Ann Abbott of Hornseywood, Penrith, New South Wales.
