Description
Collection relating to service of Lieutenant Colonel John Kellerman Adey OBE, 5 Field Ambulance, France, 21 February 1915-28 April 1917. Collection includes carbon copies of messages as written into field message books. Message books contain training notes; requests for stores; directives to unit members, and reports to the unit. Included also are details of the number of cases in hospital; reports of diseases; reports on sanitary conditions aboard the HMT Arcadian, and a list of unit members and their trade skills. Message to OC 5 Fd Amb 1 February 1917, 'I would suggest that any officer coming here would bring gum boots'.
